Uttar Pradesh Board: Elementary Mathematics removed for high school students, updated syllabus released

New Delhi, March 14, 2018: The Uttar Pradesh board has recently released its updated syllabus for Class 9 and Class 10 students. The board has removed the subject Elementary Mathematics from their syllabus, as per the NDTV reports.

IMPLEMENTATION OF NCERT SYLLABUS CAUSED THIS CHANGE:
The change in the syllabus has been brought about as a result of the implementation of NCERT syllabus for UP Board students.

NEW SYLLABUS TO PUT INTO ACTION:
The new syllabus will be implemented for the academic session which will start in April 2018 according to www.indiatoday.in

NEW TOPICS TO BE INTRODUCED:
The topics included in the new syllabus are Number system, Algebra, Co-ordinate geometry, Geometry, Mensuration, and Statistics and Probability.

NO BOARD EXAM PAPER FROM THE YEAR 2020:
There will be no board exam paper for Elementary Mathematics from 2020 onwards as per NDTV reports.

MARKING SCHEME IN THE PAST:
Mathematics and Elementary Mathematics; Theory: 70 marks and Practical: 30 marks.

OPTIONS FOR UP BOARD STUDENTS IN THE PAST:
Earlier, students had to choose from Mathematics, Elementary Mathematics, and Home Science.

ABOUT ELEMENTARY MATHEMATICS:
Elementary mathematics consists of mathematics topics frequently taught at the primary or secondary school levels
The Elementary Mathematics was considered to be easier in comparison to Mathematics
