Delhi government to set up ‘Book Banks’ in schools for underprivileged children

New Delhi, April 25, 2018: Keeping in mind the paper wastage in education, Delhi government has taken a new step to benefit its schools. Schools will now be collecting old usable textbooks from students of all classes which will be used for underprivileged children according to indiatoday.in

For this initiative, the state government has announced the formation of ‘Book Banks’ under the eco-club on a voluntary basis in schools.

STEP RECOMMENDED BY NATIONAL GREEN TRIBUNAL
The move comes after National Green Tribunal’s recommendation of better utilization of used books. Books will be provided to the less privileged children through School Management Committees (SMCs).

The used books will be stored and the children who are not able to purchase such books to study can use these books.
