New Delhi, October 13, 2018: To mark the 50 glorious years celebration, the students of Diploma Travel and Tourism along with Diploma and Degree Hotel Management students of Maharashtra State Institute of Hotel Management and Catering Technology (MSIHMCT), Pune celebrated World Tourism Day on 29th September 2018, in the institute’s auditorium by organizing a one day Seminar on the theme, “Tourism and the Digital Transformation”.
The seminar was inaugurated by lighting of the lamp by chief guest, Mrs. Neela Lad, Regional Director, India Tourism, Ministry of Tourism, Mumbai; Mr.Krishna Gopalan, President-SKAL International, Pune & Vice President , Travel Masters; Mr.Saurabh Jahagirdar, General Manager-West India, Travel Tours, and Dr.Anita Moodliar, Principal, MSIHMCT, Pune.
Dr.Anita Moodliar introduced the students to the theme of World Tourism Day while Mrs.Neela Lad gave an interesting insight of the role of Ministry of Tourism and spoke on “Tourism and Sustainable Development in the era of Technology”. Mr. Krishna Gopalan elaborated on “Present Status and Digital Transformation in Tourism Industry” while Mr.Saurabh Jahagirdar, spoke on “Extent and scope of Technology and Digital Transformation in Tourism Industry”.
The seminar had a good presence of members of the travel industry, as well as students from other institutes. The event was successfully coordinated by Dr.Vandana Joshi and Mrs. Archana Biwal, Sr. Faculty, Travel & Tourism Department along with other departments of the institute.
