Bengaluru, July 03, 2023: The International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B) hosted its 23rd annual convocation today. The ceremony was graced by Chief Guest, Prof. Rangan Banerjee, Director, IIT Delhi and Guest of Honour, Mr. Balajee Sowrirajan, Corporate VP and MD Samsung Semiconductor India Research. The ceremony was presided over by the IIIT-Bangalore Governing Body Chairman, Mr Kris Gopalakrishnan.
The ceremony that took place on the beautiful green campus of IIIT-Bangalore saw 332 students graduate from the institute. The students were from various academic programs –
115 graduates from the Integrated Master of Technology program, 174 from the Master of Technology program, 17 from the Master of Science in Digital Society program, 15 from the Master of Science by Research program, and 11 dedicated PhD scholars.
While congratulating the students on their graduation, Prof. Debabrata Das, Director, IIIT-Bangalore, said, “This Convocation carries a profound significance as it coincides with our momentous Silver Jubilee year. On September 18th, we commemorate the 25th anniversary of IIIT-B, marking the establishment of one of India’s leading educational institutions. Today marks an extraordinary milestone as the 4,129th student of IIIT-B sets out on their graduation journey. With a total of 332 deserving students, this year’s graduating class is the largest in the history of our institution. This diverse group of accomplished individuals serves as a testament to the excellence and comprehensive academic offerings provided by our esteemed institution.”
The highlights of the ceremony included celebrating students’ achievements, with awards and medals. The Institute Gold medals were awarded to Ray Jayprakash Dharmnath (M.Tech), Nipun Goel, (iM.Tech) and Vinayak Jha (M.Sc Digital Society). Late Sri. N. Rama Rao Medal for Student of the Year was awarded to Arpitha Malavalli.
Since its inception in 1998, IIIT-Bangalore has maintained a remarkable track record of achieving outstanding placement results year after year. This remarkable feat can be attributed to the steadfast support from the industry and the continuous growth of a talented and accomplished alumni network. It is relevant to mention that more than 45 students have received an annual salary package of more than 30 lakh (INR) and 30 students have received a salary package of 40 lakhs (INR) per annum. More than 100 students got above 1 lakh (INR) stipend.
