This is what most medical students aspire for and they start their preparations years ahead so that they can clear this prestigious examination. The date for NEET PG 2022 has been announced (12th March 2022). You have exactly 45 days to go and this is the last stretch that you have to cross with confidence and resilience. Whether you are already prepared or a latecomer to the party, this article will try to help you with a comprehensive plan that will help you succeed in the examination.
Don’t panic. Make a realistic plan and stick to it
Going into panic mode will not help at this point. It is better to focus your efforts on creating a realistic plan and sticking to it. Since the syllabus is vast, it is best to prioritize the chapters in each subject based on the weightage and the frequency of questions in previous test papers.
It is best to divide your subjects into four sets and prepare accordingly. You can take a combined test for one set at a time.
Subjects included in Set-I
- Physiology
- Pathology
- Pediatric
- Medicine
Subjects included in Set-II
- Anatomy

Take two grand tests every week
You can take two grand tests every week by combining two sets so that you cover 8-9 subjects at a time. You can get the tests from any coaching class or online platform of your choice. Taking two weekly tests will help you identify your areas of weakness so that you can improve on them. Writing tests regularly will help you overcome your anxiety and help you build confidence. Focus more on clinical questions but don’t ignore the single liners.DBMCI grand tests have a balanced combination of both.
Have a daily target
The NEET PG 2022 is of three hours and thirty minutes duration. It consists of 200 questions of 4 marks each with 1 mark deducted for an incorrect answer. To get the maximum marks, you need a combination of speed and accuracy. You should aim at solving 50-60 MCQ daily. You can pick these questions from any app. DBMCI’s eGurukul app has a very extensive question bank which several past students recommend. This will help you to improve your speed and recall the information you have studied.
Consolidate, Do not make a fresh start
It is expected that with just 45 days away, you would be at a certain level of preparation. Use this time to consolidate what you know rather than picking up new topics. Sharpening the topics you already know will help you minimize errors. Starting off on new topics at this stage may lead to a waste of time and leave you half-prepared resulting in errors and loss of marks.
Your own notes are your best weapon
The most important weapons in your arsenal are your own notes that you have prepared while studying a topic. Revising the notes during this period will help you speed up the process. If you do not have your own notes you should do it immediately for the important topics. This is the best way to prepare for an exam where the syllabus is humongous. You should prepare from the best book on every topic. Stick to one good book per subject. That is more than enough.
Revise. Revise, Revise
There are no shortcuts to success. You will have to revise every topic as many times as possible so that your concepts are clear and you can retain facts. There is no easy way out. You will have to create a study schedule with short breaks after every 25 minutes and keep revising your syllabus. You can use revision videos to revise. Using an audiovisual medium helps to retain information better. Try and revise one module per day. You will need a minimum of four rounds of revision to be thorough with all concepts.
Focus on images
Another aspect that can help you in your exam preparation are the images. Focus on images and try to recall them . More than 40% of the paper has image related questions. DBMCI’s Vibe can help you in this regard.
Use your time wisely
With only 45 days left, you should have a clear timetable on what you are going to target and achieve every day. Don’t waste your energy and time on weaker sections because there is negative marking and the time available is less. You should concentrate on your areas of strength and sharpen those concepts further.
Summing up
Approach the exam with confidence. Keep a calm mind and devote a fixed time every day. Make a detailed plan and follow it religiously. Keep practising test papers and focus on overcoming your weaknesses. This strategy will help you to get the most out of the 45 days available to you to achieve your dream – a seat in a premier medical college and a speciality of your choice. All the best.
