New Delhi, February 08, 2023: In an effort to curb bullying, Amity International School’s Youth Power, a student lead initiative for societal benefit orgnaised an awareness camp on the theme ‘Youth bullying and Children Mental Health’. The school children at the event requested people to give a message and tie a ribbon to the structure. The students also recently conducted a Nukkad Natak at DLF Avenue mall where students from the school interacted with shoppers on the topic and created awareness. The team of students who participated in the Nukkad Natak were Samaya Chauhan (Team Leader) 9th Grader, Moksh Gauri 11th Grader, Pranavi Mendiratta, 10th grader and Namya Jain, 10th grader.

Working strenuously to bring about a tangible change in the way bullying is handled in schools, universities and workplaces, Team अंत-bullying of Amity International School has previously conducted a variety of intricately designed activities among school students that helped communicate and amplify the message. From helping them distinguish between a causal joke and a bullying instance using a thermometer-based activity (for grades VII-XI), to making them understand the anatomy of a bully (for grades III-VI), they have encompassed it all. Having conducted panel discussions with professionals, performed Nukkad-Nataks, organized awareness and education campaigns, and spread the word about anti-bullying using art, music, theatre, the team has left no stones unturned trying their best to employ all types of communication to convey the message.

One such initiative by Global Times, Amity’s student-driven registered newspaper is Youth Power, an all-inclusive social initiative that addresses the daily struggles that humans face. This impactful initiative has been functioning for more than a decade with students from all over Amity schools taking up some of the most deeply rooted issues persisting in the society. These include eating disorders, body dysmorphia, menstruation, dietary habits, pet abandonment, financial literacy, generational differences, insomnia and bullying.

To broaden their horizons and have greater community outreach, they have conducted sessions in blind schools, orphanages and NGOs all over Delhi and also had awareness drives and processions at traffic signals to communicate the cause.

Commenting on the event, Chairperson Dr. (Mrs.) Amita Chauhan says, “I am a staunch believer in the fact that no segment in the society can match the power, idealism, enthusiasm, and courage of young people. Amity International School has always strived to make this world a better, more peaceful, and emotionally comfortable place to live in. Bullying is one of the most common types of abuse that the youth go through.

The scars of mental, emotional, and physical exploitation are engraved so deeply in their minds that they end up questioning their own individuality. Considering the same, we are working relentlessly to illuminate the dark tenebrous shadows of the evil of bullying”.
