Global Leadership Conclave 2021 awarded Dr.Raghu for his contribution in Healthcare

All medical students who complete their MBBS or Medicinae Baccalaureus Baccalaureus Chirurgiae(in Latin), step into their professional lives as doctors taking the Hippocratic Oath, attributed to Greek physician Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine. Hippocrates had famously said, “Wherever the art of medicine is loved, there is also a love of humanity. ” DrRaghu K.S. MS Ortho, Fellow – Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine and Fellow – Joint Replacement Surgery (Singapore), running Sairam Nursing Home in Yemmiganur, AndhraPradesh, India has lived these words totally.

Dr Raghu completed his MBBS from Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College (SDUMC), Kolar in 2004 and by 2009 finished his Master of Surgery (MS) in Orthopaedics from Jagadguru Jayadeva Murugarajendra Medical College (JJMMC), Davangere; both premier institutes of medicine in South India. Post his studies he worked in a slew of reputed hospitals in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Singapore specializing in the field of orthopaedics.

He had honed his skills in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine for five months in the first half of 2010, under the tutelage of Dr JVS Vidya Sagar. In the latter half of that year, he trained under Dr Gurava Reddy of Sunshine Hospital of Hyderabad, for a fellowship in Joint Replacement. Dr Raghu’s passion to excel in his field knew no bounds as after completing the aforementioned training he set his sights on going overseas. He did a one year fellowship in Adult Reconstruction of Joint Replacement under Dr Chia Shi Lu of Singapore General Hospital, Singapore.

Dr Raghu could have had a flourishing orthopaedic practice anywhere in the world after acquiring world class training. However, his call was to serve the economically disadvantaged of India’s towns and villages with high quality medical care. He left the vibrant and happening city of Singapore and set his dreams into motion by working for a year as Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Dr YSR Memorial Hospital, Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

However, he yearned to spread his wings beyond orthopaedics. His wife Dr C Viswashanthi, a known Gynaecologist also shared his dream of providing a complete range of top-notch medical treatment at affordable costs to the average man. To meet this ideal,together they set up Sairam Nursing Home at Yemmiganur, AndhraPradesh in 2014.

Sairam Nursing Home now known as Sairam Hospitals is a multi-speciality medical center with a comprehensive team of eminent doctors who have excelled in their field of speciality. Housing 53 beds, the ultra-modern facility is technologically proficient possessing free flow laminar and modular operation theatres, air conditioned intensive care units and delivery rooms; and an array of latest medical equipments like radiant heat warmers, phototherapy units, ventilators, defibrillators, and dialysis machines amongst others.

As the hospital grew over the years, Dr.Raghu’s repertoire of orthopaedic skills also expanded in a wholesome manner. Right now, he has more than 8 years of experience in the field of orthopaedics. Dr.Raghu and his team offers services in joint replacement plus arthroscopy and sports medicine; along with spine surgery and deformity corrective surgeries.

Sairam Hospitals also has a trauma care unit; paediatric and neonatology intensive care section; and obstetrics and gynaecology department. It also provides general medicine, general surgery, 24 hour pharmacy and diagnostic services, physiotherapy center and ambulance service. The hospital is in the process of setting up an institute for paramedical science and research; and a nursing college which is set to open by end-2021.

Sairam Hospitals is accredited and recognized by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for its YSR Aarogyasri healthcare schemes. All the treatments as prescribed in the schemes are available here. The benefits of this scheme are free hospital service and equity of access to every below-poverty-line (BPL) family,with coverage up to five lakhs for each family per year; and financial security for catastrophic health expenditures.

At present, there is no such hospital in Yemmiganur and its vicinity.

For his distinguished service to the society, especially towards the common man, Dr Raghu has been awarded the winner in the ‘Outstanding Contribution in Healthcare Industry’ category at the ‘World Leadership Conclave 2021’ (virtual edition) held on August 14th, 2021.This prestigious corporate event was conducted by the Global Triumph Foundation and Image Planet supported by MSME—Government of India. The emphasis was to recognize the resilience and reinvention of businesses which flourished despite the raging covid pandemic.
