Kolkata, November 24, 2021: The Department of Environmental Science of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), West Bengal is organizing a webinar on “Socio-environmental Concepts and Concerns”. This is the Session-IV of a Special Lecture Series on the topic, organized in association with School and College Connect Programs of MAKAUT.
Among the eminent speakers is environmental activist Mr. Subhas Dutta. For the last thirty years Subhas Dutta has fought to preserve and protect what’s left of Kolkata’s fading environment. In the early nineties, the volume of Public Interest Litigations (PILs) being filed by Mr. Dutta eventually led to a special Green Bench being established in the city’s high court. It was also the first dedicated bench of its kind in India.
