Kolkata, June 07, 2021: Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), WB will pay homage to eminent scientists and celebrate their birthdays along with school students. As an initiative of the School Connect Team of MAKAUT, the online programme entitled “Bigyaner Dishari” will be celebrated on the birthday of Francis Harry Compton Crick on 08.06.2021.
The Honourable Vice-chancellor of MAKAUT Prof. (Dr.) Saikat Maitra has been the key inspiration behind organizing online programmes on topics of this kind, especially in this pandemic situation.
Students from three schools will participate in the programme beginning from 2 pm on 08.06.2021. The teachers will also be there in the programme. They will highlight the work and life events of the Nobel laureate scientist Crick through their Presentations. All participants will get e-certificates

Francis Harry Compton Crick, (born June 8, 1916, Northampton, Northamptonshire, England—died July 28, 2004, San Diego, California, U.S.), British biophysicist, who, with James Watson and Maurice Wilkins, received the 1962 Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine for their determination of the molecular structure of Deoxy-Ribonucleic Acid (DNA), the chemical substance ultimately responsible for hereditary control of life functions. This accomplishment became a cornerstone of genetics and was widely regarded as one of the most important discoveries of 20th-century biology.
