Bengaluru, October 04, 2023 :  Mallya Aditi International School (MAIS), in collaboration with The Arundhati Foundation, PotholeRaja, and QShala, presented the ‘Safety Ambassadors Program, a model initiative, instilling safety habits in our youth and nurturing them to become safety ambassadors, thus creating a positive impact on the safety within school zones.

This impactful program, which was conducted from 11th to 15th September, had three crucial components.

  • Student Awareness: The program began by sensitizing students to various aspects of road safety. Over the five days, students internalized these essential principles, recognizing their significance in ensuring safer roads.

  • Student Advocacy: Empowered students emerged as advocates of road safety. They extended their knowledge to students in Government schools through a 60-minute StreetSmart Showcase. This interactive showcase included creating and delivering quizzes, designing and demonstrating safety principles through experiments, and scripting and enacting skits, leaving a lasting impact.

  • Student Action: Taking a hands-on approach, students actively engaged in implementing road improvements aimed at enhancing safety in identified school zones. Their dedicated efforts involved fixing potholes, cleaning and repairing footpaths, installing appropriate signs (such as ‘School Ahead,’ ‘T Junction,’ ‘Go Slow,’ and ‘Speed Limit’), and fixing cat’s eyes on speed breakers

Commenting on the initiative, Pradhyot Shah, a 12 ISC student, Mallya Aditi International School, shared, “The past week has been an eye-opener. It made me realize the urgent need for widespread awareness and reforms in our society concerning road safety. I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute positively.”.

“It was a unique community service program curated to educate the first time drivers on road safety. We are very happy with the collaborative outcome.” Ms Priti Rao – Coordinator, Community Service, MAIS.

Together, we believe that we can make a huge difference”

Sanjay Tambwekar, Co-founder and Trustee of The Arundhati Foundation, said, ” Thanks to Mallya Aditi International School for taking the initiative. The combination of Awareness, Advocacy and Action makes this a unique program. And the students have responded with great heart. They have passed on the message of road safety to over 180+ other students and teachers. And through the action on the ground, they have fixed 8 road signs, 150 cat’s eyes, and filled 10 potholes to make the school zones safer for 2 schools. We could not have done this without our partners – PotholeRaja and QShala. Their capabilities and expertise was key to this program. We believe that Safety should be integrated into the school curriculum, and such collaborations prepare our children to be engaged and involved in making our communities better. We hope other schools will follow the MAIS lead.

Raghav, Co-Founder of QShala, “QShala as an organisation believes in making children future ready by making them confident decision makers, problem solvers and most importantly responsible citizens. The Safety Ambassador Program conducted in collaboration with Mallya Aditi International School, Arundhati Foundation and PotHole Raja was a perfect platform to move closer towards realising this. The program portrayed how meaningful impact can be created when individuals from different facets of the society come together to bring about impact. Working closely with the students to build awareness about Road Safety through interactive quizzes, skits and safety demonstrations has been quite a fulfilling experience. Students from MAIS worked closely with students from Amruthahalli and Kenny Public school exchanging ideas, collaborating with each other to put up the showcase and work on the road improvement. We hope the students continue addressing such issues in the society and work towards creating a better world”
