Bengaluru, February 03, 2025: In a move to foster innovation and nurture young scientific minds, a Bengaluru-based research institute Prayoga, recognized by DSIR, Government of India, has opened applications for the fourth edition of Anveshana, a free and unique research program that invites students from grades 9 to 12 to participate in advanced science research projects, cutting across critical areas such as Green Chemistry, Advanced Materials, Earth Sciences, and Agriculture Sciences under the guidance of senior researchers. The program is geared to foster innovation and nurture young scientific minds across the country, inspiring a passion for research by providing hands-on research experiences.
Since its inception, Anveshana has successfully completed 20 research projects involving 60 students, resulting in eight international publications in reputed journals, including those affiliated with Harvard University and Oxford University Press. The success of the program underlines its role in shaping the future of scientific innovation and fostering young Indian researchers who aspire to make meaningful contributions to the global scientific community.
“My mentor provided valuable guidance whenever I was uncertain about the extraction process, making my work easier and helping me understand complex concepts. Engaging in a science project was a special experience, as I learned concepts not yet taught in class. I’m glad to have participated and can now confidently explain how to use equipment children normally aren’t allowed to,” Nalini, a Grade 9 student from Sai Krishna Vidya Mandir and a participant in the 2024 edition of Anveshana, reflected on her experience and shared her insights.
The program is tailored for students with a keen interest in science and a desire to pursue careers in core scientific research. The students will be working with state-of-the-art facilities and under the guidance of experienced scientists. They will be working on research projects to address real-life challenges, thus developing a scientific temperament. Anveshana also offers participants the opportunity to publish their research in prestigious international journals, providing a significant boost to their academic and professional journeys.
The applications for Anveshana 2025 are open now, with the last date for submission being February 24, 2025 and is open to students from all over India. The shortlisted candidates will face personal interviews on March 6 and 7, 2025, followed by the project commencement in April. The program closes with a final viva and certificate presentation at the Prayoga campus in August 2025. Both the students and schools incur no cost for their participation in Anveshana. Schools are motivated to nominate their students for Anveshana as these students contribute both to themselves and to the reputation of the academics of the school. In all reports and publications, schools associated with students whose research gets published in international journals are identified and thus, in fact, foster research and academic excellence.
Speaking about the program, Vallish Herur, Managing Trustee of Prayoga, said, “Introducing students to scientific research at a young age is vital for nurturing the next generation of innovators. It is important to engage them early and offer experiences that elevate their skills to the highest standards. Through Anveshana, we provide students the opportunity to work on novel research projects in state-of-the-art facilities, guided by eminent researchers.”
