The school is the first in the region to launch a ‘Hydration Bell’ programme aimed at encouraging regular hydration among students, beyond their usual recess hours

New Delhi, May 13, 2025: In a thoughtful step towards health and wellness, Venkateshwar International School (VIS), Sector 10, Dwarka, introduced a unique Hydration Bell (Jal Dhwani) programme. VIS is the first school in the region to launch this initiative, which aims to cultivate the habit of drinking water at regular intervals, especially during intense summer months.

The school recognizes the importance of health and wellness during extreme weather conditions and aims to prevent students from dehydration amid rising heat waves.  The ‘Hydration Bell’ is scheduled to ring twice a day as a reminder for students to pause and drink water. This initiative includes teachers and staff members to instill a holistic approach towards this new habit.

The importance of drinking water at regular intervals is not only associated with health but also improves concentration, energy, flushes toxins, and supports vital organs, especially the kidneys. Jal Dhwani aims to inculcate lifelong habits of health, mindfulness, and self-care among students.

To ensure seamless implementation, the faculty at the school has been briefed to facilitate active participation from the students across all grades. Teachers are also conducting awareness sessions to educate students about the importance of regular hydration, particularly in summer. In support of this initiative, VIS has urged parents to make sure their children carry a filled water bottle every day, reinforcing the habit at home and in school.

Dr. Manisha Sharma, Principal of Venkateshwar International School, said, “Children often ignore the need to drink water during school hours. This happens especially when they’re focused on classes or involved in other activities. The Hydration Bell is a gentle but consistent reminder that their welfare is our priority. It is our responsibility to build an atmosphere where health and learning go hand in hand. This programme is a stepping stone in that direction, and we hope it sets a positive example for other schools to follow. “

VIS reaffirms its commitment to the holistic development of its students with programmes like Jal Dhwani where academia goes together with health, mindfulness, and care for every student’s needs.
