The theme for International Women’s Day 2024, #InspireInclusion, resonates deeply with my experiences and the challenges faced by women navigating both the education and real estate sectors. In a country like India, where gender stereotypes have long influenced societal expectations, breaking through these barriers becomes not only a personal triumph but a crucial contribution to a more inclusive future.

In the realm of education, fostering an inclusive environment has been a primary focus.  Nurturing, challenging, and empowering young minds, regardless of gender, to dream beyond conventional boundaries has been a priority. We have strived to create a space where both girls and boys are encouraged to explore diverse fields of study, emphasizing that potential knows no gender. By promoting inclusivity in education, we lay the foundation for a more equitable society where anyone can impact a remarkable and sustainable future.

Simultaneously, my involvement in the real estate industry has exposed me to a different set of challenges. Historically dominated by men, breaking into this sphere required resilience and a commitment to challenging the status quo. As a woman navigating the complexities of real estate transactions and negotiations, I have witnessed the transformative power of inclusion. The industry benefits immensely when diverse perspectives are embraced, leading to innovative solutions and more robust decision-making processes. It’s a beautiful journey to be part of the real estate realm too which has begun to offer a range of opportunities to women who can showcase their skills and occupy high positions.

International Women’s Day serves as a reminder that we must actively engage in dismantling gender-based stereotypes and biases. To inspire inclusion, it’s crucial for women in leadership roles to share their experiences and insights. By doing so, we provide a roadmap for the next generation of women aspiring to break barriers and pursue careers in traditionally male-dominated sectors while being voices for positive change. The Day is also unique because it provides space for women to stake their claim for an equal society in all spheres from economy to culture to education.

Heading different organization, my journey has been shaped by the support of both men and women who recognized the value of diversity. Collaborative efforts, mentorship programs, and networking opportunities have been instrumental in overcoming challenges. It is essential to acknowledge the role that men play in championing gender equality, emphasizing that the pursuit of inclusion is a collective responsibility. The world is also changing rapidly with inclusion being a principle that many companies and educational institutions have adopted.

The #InspireInclusion theme invites us to celebrate the achievements of women who have defied stereotypes and shattered glass ceilings. Their stories serve as beacons of inspiration for those navigating uncharted territories. We take pride in showcasing successful women from various fields as role models, proving that diverse career paths are not only possible but also enriching.

Beyond the celebration, International Women’s Day prompts us to reflect on the work that still lies ahead. While progress has been made, gender disparities persist in various sectors.  I am committed to leveraging my position to advocate for policies that promote gender equality and inclusion. This includes initiatives to close the gender pay gap, provide equal opportunities for career advancement, and foster a workplace culture that values diversity.

International Women’s Day serves as a powerful reminder of the ongoing journey toward gender equality. The #InspireInclusion theme encourages us to create spaces where every individual, regardless of gender, feels valued and included. I am committed to inspiring the next generation to challenge stereotypes, break barriers, and contribute to a more inclusive world. Together, we can forge a future where diversity is not just celebrated on a designated day but woven into the fabric of our daily lives.
