Greenwood High Bannerghatta Hosts Startup Weekend in Collaboration with Masters’ Union University

Bengaluru, September 17, 2026 : Greenwood High Bannerghatta, in collaboration with Masters’ Union University, hosted a two-day Startup Weekend recently, providing 52 students from Grades 9 to 12 with an immersive experience in entrepreneurship, innovation and startup building.

Built around the philosophy “Build a Startup and Pitch It to the Judges. Learn by Doing,” the programme took students through the startup journey – from identifying real-world problems and brainstorming solutions to developing prototypes, exploring market opportunities, creating business models and pitching their ideas.

The first day focused on problem identification, ideation and mentoring, with students participating in the Problem Hunter’s Lab and Hustles & Huddles sessions. On Day 2, students developed rapid prototypes and pitch decks before presenting their ideas to venture capitalists Mitresh Sharma and Kartikay Chadha.

Two teams emerged as winners with innovative solutions to everyday challenges. The winning team, comprising Anushka Srinivas Muthunoori, Vishwaa A, Viraj D, Kalp Kothari and Vivaan Tallam, presented a gel-based electrolyte sachet, designed as a compact and convenient alternative to carrying conventional water bottles.

The runner-up startup, PawTrack, proposed a smart pet health-tracking collar designed to monitor pets’ vital signs and provide early health alerts to pet owners. The concept demonstrated how technology can be used to enable proactive monitoring of pet health.

Speaking about the initiative, Mrs. Niru Agarwal, Vice Chairperson and Managing Trustee, Greenwood High, said, “At Greenwood High, we believe that meaningful learning happens when students are given the opportunity to question, experiment and create. Collaborating with Masters’ Union University for Startup Weekend gave our students a valuable opportunity to experience entrepreneurship beyond the classroom. Watching them transform ideas into prototypes and confidently pitch their solutions was a wonderful reflection of the power of experiential learning.”

Reflecting on the experience, Anushka Srinivas Muthunoori, a member of the winning team, said, “Startup Weekend taught us that having an idea is only the first step. We had to understand the problem, work as a team, build a solution, respond to feedback and finally pitch it. The experience challenged us to think differently and gave us the confidence to look at everyday problems from an entrepreneurial perspective.”

The programme helped students develop practical skills in problem-solving, innovation, teamwork, business thinking, prototyping and pitching, encouraging them to move beyond theoretical learning and experience the process of transforming an idea into a potential startup.

The event concluded with an award ceremony, recognition of the winning and runner-up teams, certificate distribution and closing remarks, marking two days of learning, collaboration and innovation.

The initiative reflects Greenwood High’s commitment to experiential and future-focused learning, while providing students with opportunities to engage with real-world entrepreneurial challenges and learn directly from industry experts through its collaboration with Masters’ Union University.
