International Literacy Day: Emirates donates 500 children’s books to IIMPACT in India

New Delhi, September 09, 2021: On International Literacy Day, Emirates will donate 500 children’s books to IIMPACT – a local organisation that offers educational opportunities for disadvantaged children in India.  The Emirates Airline Foundation, a non-profit charity organisation which provides humanitarian, philanthropic aid and services for children in need, has proudly supported IIMPACT since 2015.

For the young girls at IIMPACT, International Literacy Day started off with a special surprise as Emirates Cabin Crew, Nidhi Verma, treated the children to a virtual storytelling session of “The Day It Rained Fish by author Ramendra Kumar. The playful story sparked imagination and curiosity as the children read along excitedly.

The young girls were also given a glimpse into the exciting life of an Emirates cabin crew member as Nidhi shared personal experiences of flying with one of the largest international airlines in the world. The session concluded with a surprise donation of 500 children’s books from a wide selection of genres includingpicture books, fantasy, fiction, science fiction and much more.

IIMPACT is dedicated to transforming the lives of women, families and entire communities in the most remote and rural areas of India by empowering girls through education. Since 2015, the Emirates Airline Foundation has played an instrumental role with establishing 100 new learning centres across the country, and delivering primary education to around 3,000 girls, across 11 states.

Under the patronage of HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, the Emirates Airline Foundation is an organisation dedicated to transforming lives and supporting some of the most deserving social causes. Since its inception in 2003, the Foundation has supported over 50 projects and NGOs around the world, including 11 organisations that primarily focus on providing disadvantaged children access to educational institutions.
