South City International School organised a panel discussion with the Space Scientist – Dr Amitabha Ghosh

Kolkata, September  22, 2022: Considering the growing interest among school students towards space science, South City International School had organised a panel discussion with Dr. Amitabha Ghosh. He is a Space Scientist from NASA who is working in the Mars Missions since 1997. Amitabha Ghosh is an Indian researcher, administrator and educator. He currently holds the position of Honorary Scientist, Indian National Science Academy and Honorary Distinguished Professor in the Aerospace Engineering and Applied Mechanics Department at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, Howrah, West Bengal. He is an Emeritus Senior Fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation and a Fellow of The National Academy of Sciences, India, of which he was elected a Senior Scientist Platinum Jubilee Fellow in 2012. Mr. Ghosh has made contributions in various fields, including fundamental and applied research, technology development, administration and social development.

As children every time we looked up to the sky we see the stars. Today we know there is something beyond the stars and with this panel discussion Dr Ghosh helped the bright young and curious minds get a step closer to the stars and beyond. Dr. Ghosh has played prominent role in various other missions by NASA such as Mars Pathfinder Mission and MER (Mars Exploration Rover) mission. South City International School has brought this opportunity to the students from Class 8 to Class 12 at their School Auditorium. The event was commenced in the presence of Mr. Ravi Todi, one of the directors at South City International School. It was wonderful to meet with the youngsters and respond to their excellent questions, Mr. Amitabha Ghosh said at the event.
